Something Beautiful...

"After this I look and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people, and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb..." -Rev. 7:9

Update:
I had the opportunity to go to San Diego, CA for Spring Break. A group of about 15 college students with Campus Outreach partnered with Harbor Church of San Diego to do some mercy ministry and investigative work on college campuses. We stayed in a mission house in the heart of San Diego. This was the most amazing experience! Our purpose for going to San Diego was to engage students with the gospel and get a feel for what the spiritual climate is in California.

San Diego is known as the City of Refugee. Refugees that arrive in San Diego are sent to live in Mid City. It was a pretty rough neighborhood, but such a privilege to live there for the week.

Sunday morning we were awakened by Hispanic worship music coming from the church downstairs. We then went to Harbor Church at Mid City where we participated in a bilingual church service. What a picture of what heaven is to look like: men and women worshiping God in both English and Spanish. It was just beautiful! We had been up all night traveling, but it didn’t matter, I think we all would say that Harbor was one of our favorite experiences of the week.

The next two days were spent investigating the campus at the University of California at San Diego. This got me so excited for my mission to Australia. This summer we will be building relationships with students in hopes of sharing the gospel with them. In San Diego, we didn’t have but two days to spend on campus, so building relationships probably wasn’t going to happen. But God was so faithful to open door after door for spiritual conversations. I met Grata at church on Sunday, and was able to meet up with her later that week. She is a freshman at UCSD, and I was so encouraged by her testimony. I hope to continue to keep in touch with her.

Our team really got a good picture of what California culture is like. It is so carefree out there. Faith is not something that many people talk about. We also learned a ton about what it means to be Christ’s ambassadors. This was something the CO staff stressed all week: as Christians, we are to live our lives to represent Christ.

I could write for days about all we got to experience while in San Diego. Everyday was something different. From witnessing to college students, tutoring refugees, going to the San Diego Zoo, seeing the La Jolla Cliffs…this spring break was something beautiful in deed!
